SOLIDWORKS 2019 introduced an option for ‘Enhanced graphics performance’.  This adds significant improvement during pan, zoom or rotate in the part or assembly environment.  It takes advantage of modern OpenGL 4.5 and hardware acceleration for higher detail and frame rate.  The performance scales up with higher end graphics cards so it’s better at leveraging more powerful cards.

The drawback with 2019 is that it remains in Beta release and is not intended for production use.

But good news in SOLIDWORKS 2020!  The Enhanced Graphics option is no longer in Beta testing and now enabled by default, provided you have a certified graphics card.  This option is now carried over to drawings and drawing annotations as well so moving around your drawings is faster too.
