Manufacturing Software

Integrated CAM Solutions for SOLIDWORKS

What is Manufacturing Software?

Manufacturing software bridges the gap between your CAD designs and the manufacture of a physical product.

Encourage drawingless manufacture through SOLIDWORKS MBD, and enhance quality assurance with SOLIDWORKS Inspection.

Regardless of the material you work with, there's a manufacturing software solution out there. Program, nest, and control CNC machines using SOLIDWORKS CAM or become a digital carpenter with SWOOD by EFICAD.

With complete SOLIDWORKS compatibility, these software solutions pair with the DELMIA digital manufacturing suite to help you create components to tight tolerances in rapid time.

Benefits of CAD/CAM Software

  • High precision machining to manufacture accurate physical products from 2D and 3D CAD drawings.
  • Create and simulate complex toolpaths automatically from your part geometry.
  • Maximise stock and minimise scrap with automatic and optimized nesting tools.
  • Streamline workflows and improve efficiency of manufacturing processes to get to market faster.
  • Utilize 3D scanning, stereolithography, 5-axis machining, mold tools, and a variety of CNC machines to supplement your design process.

SWOOD Design Lessons

The following lessons are included in the course

Introduction: Overview

This lesson will give a thorough understanding on the initial SWOOD setup, ensuring standard libraries and specific document templates are loaded and accessible for all of the design team to use. Following on from the setup, learn how to customize the user interface to meet your own specific requirements.

Lesson 1: Panel Design

Take a look into the design and construction details of an individual SWOOD panel. Specify core and laminate materials, including stock offsets, grain direction and edge banding properties, as well as applying standard and bespoke mouldings. Learn how to add parameters that will drive the size and shape of the overall panel and its hole, pocket, slot and edging details.

Lesson 2: Frame Design

Bringing together the panel design fundamentals from the previous lesson, we now assemble a series of panels and add parameters to create a fully configurable frame in our library. The lesson is completed by learning how to drag and drop intelligent fasteners from the connector library onto the new frame.

Lesson 3: Connectors

Lesson 3 focuses on the functionality and configuration of the connector library. The library contains a range of fixings from cams and dowels to biscuit and mortice and tenon joints. During the lesson we will customise some connectors by adding rules so they work intelligently as your design evolves.

Lesson 4: SWOODBox

A SWOODBox is an intelligent and adaptable means of applying draws, doors, shelves, hanger rails, etc., to your frame design by drag and dropping items from your library onto a model. The lesson covers how to construct a SWOODBox feature for your library by adding rules which control sizes, quantities and the necessary hole details required onto adjacent panels, such as hinge rebates and shelf hole pitches.

Lesson 5: Layout Project

Creating a SWOOD Layout brings together the work undertaken in the previous lessons. It is here where we can use a SOLIDWORKS assembly to plan the layout of a room and populate it with frames and SWOODBox items from your library.

Lesson 6: SWOOD Center Configurator

SWOOD Center Configurator is included in every seat of SWOOD Design. SWOOD Center allows the capture of parameters and dimensions at the top level of a project including SOLIDWORKS dimensions, SOLIDWORKS custom properties, SWOODBox parameters and Panel material information. This lesson covers the use and benefits of SWOOD Center to control and link multiple top level information.
